How do I get rid of mold in my home?

Removing the moldy building materials.

  1. Stop the water flow that is feeding the mold.
  2. Set up containment to keep mold spores from wafting into uncontaminated areas.
  3. Place an air filtration devise inside the contained area.
  4. Don protective suit, mask, goggles, and gloves to avoid contact.
  5. Cut out moldy building materials and double bag.

Once all the moldy material is removed air movers can be placed to dry out wet areas. It is important not to add air flow to wet materials that have mold or the spores will be blown throughout the building. This home in the Penn-American District had a big mold problem and needed a lot of demolition.
