Mold Needs the Right Environment to Grow

Most of us know that water damage left untreated can lead to mold. That's why when SERVPRO comes in to restore after a water damage event, we use special agents to prevent any future mold growth on the affected services. But, mold can grow in other ways as well if conditions are right. 

Mold can grow on areas with the following:

·        Water, moisture or high humidity

·        Food (any organic substance)

·        The right temperature (generally 68-86 degrees F, but some can grow in 30 degrees or colder)

·        Lack of ventilation

·        Some molds can produce toxins if the environmental conditions are right.
